200TH ANNIVERSARY COMPETITION WINNERS

LOCAL PRIMARY SCHOOL HELPS CELEBRATE 200TH ANNIVERSARY

In 2020 New Romney Old School was 200 years old. Covid-19 stopped almost all of the planned celebrations, but the Art Competitions for local children still went ahead safely in conjunction with St Nicholas School.

The Infants’ competition was inspired by one of the Old School Trustees, who had a model of a ship in a bottle. These younger pupils were asked to make a picture, in any medium of their choice, of a ship and to give it a name.

The Junior School children were asked to create a picture of any building in New Romney that was older than the Old School. There were a number of buildings to choose from, which resulted in some wonderful results.

Here are the winning pictures and hopefully, when Covid restrictions allow, all entries will be displayed in the Old School.
